Visit Rosary Army to download an MP3 audio rosary FREE. A great resource for students and parents. Listen while walking to/from school, exercising or in the car. Totally portable and totally free!

Looking for an app for your Apple or Android device? Check out this app by Pauline Books and Media which includes the audio rosary and beautiful meditative reflections by the Sisters of St. Paul.

For extra help with preparing for the sacrament of Reconciliation, Little i Apps has a notable app that even the most devout Catholic will find helpful. From a helpful examination of conscience to a detailed step by step guide, this little app offers BIG help for all sinners seeking to reconcile with our Heavenly Father.

Now how about some fun? The Catholic Game offers multiple choice trivia questions about all aspects of the Catholic faith. Should you need some help brushing up on traditions and teachings of the Catholic faith, Roman Catholic Cheat Sheet is the app for you. This app has a wealth of information and is a great go to resource for all.

While not all of these resources are free, they are all very helpful in reacquainting us with our Catholic faith. None of these apps replaces the most precious resource we have as members of the Catholic Church, our Priests and Bishops of which offer us the most Holy sacrifice of the Mass. Thanks be to God.

Walk for the Poor

Leisa Anslinger of Growing Up Catholic will speak on the value of her new curriculum "Growing up Catholic"  and where we, as community, fit into it. This event will consist of two major sessions. The first session will focus on training for catechists, assistants and individuals interested in volunteering with our sacrament preparation program.  The second session will be an open session for parents, family members and friends of the parish that will be sharing in the formation process of sacrament students.

From the Desk of: Safe Environment Office

The Diocese of Fresno Safe Environment program, Keeping the Promise (KTP) presentations will be held for parents and students on October 27th. The parent session will be held in the Youth Center at 4:00 pm only. Students will report to their regular class.
The Keeping the Promise program is supported by the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Youth. This program is in place to ensure the safety of all children and youth that worship, study, or are involved in parish ministry activities. Keeping the Promise Parent Guide books are available for purchase in the Religious Education Office. The cost is $10.00 and is available in English or Spanish. Please view the KTP Scope and Sequence file for more information on what safety skill will be presented according to your student’s grade level within the Religious Education program. Each Safety Skill correlates with a specific Catechetical focus and has been designed to support what parents are teaching their children at home.
Each student will receive a “Parent-Child Dioalogue Activity Guide” to reiterate what was presented in the classroom. Please take the time to review this guide and do the activity with your child. You may view a sample guide be clicking here.
Any questions or concerns you may have regarding the “Keeping the Promise” program or grade level presentations should be directed to your parish Safe Environment Officer, Gina Felter.

RED Wants YOU!

In a small town, very similar to this one, lived a lively young child of God. This child of God loved to play with friends, learn new things and especially enjoyed the brief moments with family. For whatever reason family moments for this child of God were scarce and not always the happiest times, but still this child of God treasured any moment spent with family.
Now the day had come when this child of God was asked to be more than a friend to his playmates and rather than just learn about new things; this child of God was to share this knowledge with others. "Me? You want me to share with others?" the child of God questioned. "Who am I to share what others have taught me? I couldn't possibly do this. No, no I wont do it. I can't do it." muttered the child of God.
And so it went, this child of God continued on journeying through life. Friends became family and life was like a stagnant pond of water; you can find life if you look hard enough, but on the surface it just stinks. This once lively child of God eager to learn new things become stagnant too. What was this child of God to do? Being the adventurous type, this child of God set out to search for this lost "liveliness". It wasn't a very long adventure in terms of distance, however the time it took, well that was journey in itself. This child of God found the source of liveliness not just in learning new things but sharing these learned ideas and praxis with others. In the excitement of sharing this newly found knowledge, time with family had become this Child of God's source of inspiration and the true source of liveliness.
It may seem that this would be the conclusion of our tale, however that isn't so. God loves his child very much and provides plenty of opportunities for his children to grow and continue to be inspired. You see, RED wants to welcome you, child of God, to share your knowledge gained by others so others can do the same.

Father Francis Alabart has joined our Heavenly Father

Father Francis Alabart passed away late last week. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 21st, from 9am to 7 pm at Lane Family Funeral Home located at 1303 Glenwood Street in Delano, CA.
Reception of Body will be held on Thursday July 22nd, at 12:00 noon at Lane Family Funeral Home with a Vigil and Rosary at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Delano at 7:00 pm. Father Alabart's funeral is set for Friday July 23rd, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Delano. We offer our prayers of thanksgiving for Father Alabart's years of service to our diocese.

Fall 2010 will bring about exciting improvements to the Religious Education program for students enrolled in the Kindergarden through 5th grade program.
St. Malachy Religious Education is now offering an evening session on Wednesdays from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in addition to our 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm afternoon session. This evening session accomadates busy families and members of our community that have been otherwise unable to get involved due to work schedules. Our goal by offering this evening session is to take some of the pressure off families that rush from one venue to another and provide an opportunity for all of our parish families to be involved.
2010-2011 enrollment is now open to all families. Class sizes are limited to 20 students per session per grade level. Not all classes may be available for both sessions.

During lent we asked to do three things; pray, fast and give alms. Stations of the Cross every Friday at 6:30 pm is one way our Church is helping families pray more. Soup nights and fish frys remind us of our obligation to fast. What about alms giving? The Religious Education Department has made it easy! We are hosting a coin drive for the poor of Tehachapi. With so many families out of work and struggling to make ends meet, we wanted to do our part in helping our community. Each classroom has a collection can and will be collecting coins throughout the season of Lent. All monies will be donated to St. Malachy Church St. Vincent de Paul Society. We appreciate anything you can donate toward this cause.

Children's Ministry ADVENT-ures!

The children of the religious education program are helping babies by collecting gently used baby items. From gently used baby clothing and infant car seats to diapers and wipes. Your donations will benefit the St. Malachy Catholic Daughters Pro-Life committee.
As we work so desperately in preparing our homes and hearts for the celebration of Christmas let us take advantage of this season of Advent to extend the true gift of Christmas to our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

From the Desk of: Parish Safe Environment Officer

It’s that time again! The Diocese of Fresno Safe Environment program, Keeping the Promise (KTP) presentations will be presented during the month of December. This program is in place to ensure the safety of all children and youth that worship, study, or are involved in parish ministry/ activities.

The Keeping the Promise program is supported by the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Youth. Keeping the Promise Parent Guide books are available for purchase in the Religious Education Office. The cost is $10.00 and is available in English or Spanish. Please view the KTP Scope and Sequence file for more information on what safety skill will be presented according to your student’s grade level within the Religious Education program. Each Safety Skill correlates with a specific Catechetical focus and has been designed to support what parents are teaching their children at home.

Each student will receive a “Parent-Child Dioalogue Activity Guide” to reiterate what was presented in the classroom. Please take the time to review this guide and do the activity with your child. You may view a sample guide be clicking here.

Any questions or concerns you may have regarding the “Keeping the Promise” program or grade level presentations should be directed to your parish Safe Environment Officer, Gina Felter.

Inspiration LA 2009

Life is a maybe; Death is for sure; Sin is the cause; Christ is the cure!

On November 7th, twenty of our youth embarked on a road trip to Magic Mountain in Valencia to participate in Inspiration LA 2009 as sponsored by LifeTeen. Excited and full of anticipation for what awaited us at Magic Mountain, the caravan rolled out at 7:30 am. Two hours later we were parked and eager for the gates to open! The sea of brightly colored shirts added to the joy and elation felt by all.

The day was well planned providing ample time for our thrill seeking youth to enjoy the best roller coasters the park had to offer. The event kicked off with Mass and closed with a youth rally which consisted of guest speakers, music lead by Ike Ndolo and finally with Adoration and Benediction.

This awe inspiring event left all in attendance filled with the Holy Spirit singing and praising Jesus to "take, take, take it all!"

They came, they marched and they even went trunk-or-treating! We had a good turn out of saints for our annual Saints Day Parade. Pageantry of Saints

We are having a "Holy-ween" Party!
Join us on Friday October, 30th for our annual All Saints Day Parade. The event kicks off at 4:00 pm with games and then onto the pageantry and awards! Trunk or treating will begin at 5:30 pm!
This is open to all preschool through 5th grade children. Come dressed as your favorite Saint or Bible character! Don't stop there though! Study up on your Saint or Bible character and you could be a lucky winner in our Saint Parade Costume Contest!
Don't despair Jr. High and High School students! We have a special request for you! While mom and dad are at the parade with little Danny you can decorate the trunk of the family car and participate in our "Trunk-or-Treat". Prizes will be given to top three decorated trunks. Dress up and be a part of the festivities. Let us remember that this is a Saintly affair. We don't want to scare away the saints!
Volunteers are still needed to decorate the hall and car trunks for the trunk-or-treaters! You supply the car trunk, we will supply the candy! Comment here or send us an e-mail if you can help!

Month of the Rosary

How are you and your family honoring this month of the Rosary? For me and my family we attended Family Rosary Night this past Tuesday. After a hectic day of school and work it was a great opportunity for us to put to rest our own struggles and reflect on the life of Jesus.
Often times at the end of a crazy day I find myself reviewing the struggles I encountered throughout the day. For whatever reason, it seems to be easier to recall the struggles rather than the triumphs. I see this trend in my children and it saddens me to hear how they were hurt throughout the day rather than how someone made them smile or how they were able to help someone else. As we prayed the Rosary our minds were busied and our hearts were opened to receive Jesus allowing the revelation of each mystery to fill our hearts.
Our Blessed Mother, in all of her apparitions has asked only one thing of us. Pray the Rosary. Our gift in reciting the Rosary is the freedom from our own busy minds.
I invite each of you to quiet your mind and join us for Family Rosary Nights being held every Tuesday at 6:00 pm in the Church followed by a Potluck and fellowship during this month of the Rosary.
